Can you please share a little bit about yourself and your involvement with Oxley College life

I was born and raised on a small farm outside Robertson, home of the Big Potato did lots of adventure travel and camping with my family as a boy. I started at Oxley in 2020, fresh from Tudor House where I had relished the opportunities for camping, climbing trees, choir, drama and spoken word.  I couldn’t have found a better high school to continue these things and to this day, some of my favourite Oxley memories are from camps like Outback, drama productions (such as Chicago, The Book of Everything and Mamma Mia) and team sports with my friends. My basketball 1sts games and The Oxley Tenor Bass choir are highlights of my week. I am delighted to have been elected as the 2025 College Vice Captain, a role which a younger me would never have expected to reach.

What is your favourite subject and why?

My current favourite subject must be Drama, although it is closely followed by Legal Studies. It is taught by the most fabulous Mrs. Pascoe, who works tirelessly to create the perfect learning environment for us as students, something which makes every lesson both engaging and effective. The added layers of expression that performance enables couples with a talented class of my peers to cement Drama as one of my Favourite subjects.

Can you tell us about a memorable project or activity you’ve done this year

One of my most memorable experiences of 2024 was my involvement with the Mount Annan Sorry Day event, in which a classmate Alec Simpson and I had the honour of giving the acknowledgement of country. It was an amazing opportunity to connect with and learn from some of our local First-Nations cultures, whilst commemorating survivors of the stolen generations, their experiences and stories of strength and resilience.

What do you feel is special about the Oxley College environment and community?

The thing that makes Oxley so special in my eyes is the accepting and inviting philosophy that permeates it’s community, an ethos that focus of cultivating all aspects of the child, be it wellness and health in sport, critical thinking and open-mindedness through its round-square ideals and incredible seminars from worldclass speakers, or the overall commitment to excellence through academic rigor. In a nutshell, the Oxley environment provides the opportunities for each of us students to look for and grow into the best people we can be.
