The Oxley College Pipe Band

The College Pipe Band has been a distinctive feature of our school community for over a decade, proudly standing as the only band of its kind in the region. With players from Year 6 to Year 12, the band fosters camaraderie, discipline and a shared love for music and tradition. Members dedicate themselves to performing at key school events, such as graduations, speech nights and open days.

The band is currently led by acclaimed Piper James Freeman, who brings a wealth of experience from his work with The Scots College Pipes and Drums. Under James' expert direction, the band has continued to thrive. Prior to James’ leadership, the band performed at prestigious events such as the AFL Grand Final alongside Robbie Williams and on the stage of Australian Idol, showcasing their exceptional talent and versatility. Many of our talented members have earned individual awards for piping and drumming at State, National, and even International competitions, demonstrating the outstanding calibre of musicianship within our group.

We warmly welcome new members to join this vibrant and historic ensemble, offering a supportive and inspiring environment to develop skills. Becoming part of the College Pipe Band means embracing a unique musical journey, building lifelong skills and friendships, and contributing to a proud tradition that continues to make its mark both locally and nationally.
